ADSCC Bone Marrow Transplant And Cellular Therapy Congress 2024 Begins With Focus On AI In Healthcare

The 2nd annual ADSCC Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Congress 2024 began at Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), this event is a key step in advancing cellular therapy and regenerative medicine in the region. The congress attracted over 1,500 participants worldwide, highlighting its global significance.

Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Congress President and Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program at ADSCC, opened the event. She was joined by Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President, Dr. Maha Barakat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other officials from healthcare organisations and universities.

ADSCC Congress 2024 Highlights AI in Healthcare

A CEO Roundtable Session moderated by CNN's Becky Anderson was a highlight of the opening day. This session focused on artificial intelligence's transformative role in healthcare's future. Key figures like Shaista Asif of PureHealth and Dr. Georges Haber Pascal of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi discussed AI's impact on patient outcomes.

Prof. Yendry Ventura, CEO of ADSCC, remarked on the importance of this roundtable: "The convergence of artificial intelligence and healthcare represents a transformative era in medical innovation. Today's discussions highlighted AI’s role in not only revolutionizing how we approach treatment but also reshaping the entire healthcare ecosystem."

The congress showcased significant advancements in cellular therapy through various sessions. Topics included challenges in treating myeloid malignancies, developments in CAR-T technology, and stem cell applications for neurological disorders. These discussions underscored ADSCC's commitment to pioneering therapeutic solutions.

Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi emphasised the congress's importance under His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan's patronage. She stated that this support reflects UAE’s dedication to advancing medical research globally. The event highlighted progress in CAR-T and stem cell treatments for complex diseases.

Global Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

The first day demonstrated ADSCC's dedication to fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in bone marrow transplant and regenerative medicine fields. With over 55 speakers from countries like UAE, Japan, UK, Spain, and Germany, the congress serves as a vital platform for advancing medical science.

The programme also explored conditioning regimens and emerging treatments for autoimmune diseases through cellular therapy. The latest research in induced pluripotent stem cells was also discussed, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in these areas.

The second day will feature more sessions focusing on immunotherapy in cancer, fertility preservation breakthroughs, and gene therapy for hemoglobinopathies. These discussions aim to further enhance understanding and innovation within these critical areas of healthcare.
