SEC Amends Vehicle Disposal Decision For Impounded Vehicles In Sharjah
The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), led by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, recently revised a key decision regarding impounded vehicles in the Emirate. This amendment updates Decision No. (3) of 2016, focusing on the disposal process for vehicles held for over three months without action from owners or lienholders.
During the meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the council also reviewed various government matters. They evaluated public policies and their alignment with Sharjah's strategic vision.
The updated decision allows for the disposal of vehicles after a three-month impoundment period. The Committee for the Disposal of Impounded Vehicles will manage this process through public auctions. These auctions will include vehicles seized due to traffic or criminal incidents.
Coordination with the Public Prosecution is essential when disposing of these vehicles. Auctions can occur three months after closing a traffic accident file or following a judicial ruling. This ensures all legal procedures are adhered to before vehicle disposal.
The SEC's decision aims to streamline government operations and enhance efficiency in handling impounded vehicles. By setting clear timelines and procedures, it seeks to reduce clutter and improve resource management within the Emirate.
