SCCI And Qatar Chamber Collaborate To Enhance Economic Cooperation And Private Sector Growth

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently engaged with a delegation from the Qatar Chamber to explore ways to enhance collaboration and share expertise between their business communities. The discussions aimed at strengthening sectoral working groups and business councils to boost international economic relations, thereby promoting mutual interests and reinforcing private sector partnerships between the UAE and Qatar.

During the meeting held at SCCI's headquarters, Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, welcomed Hamad Ali Muaiql Al-Marri, Director of the Committees and Business Councils Department at the Qatar Chamber, along with other delegates. Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI, and several senior officials from both sides were also present.

SCCI and Qatar Chamber Strengthen Economic Ties

The meeting focused on exchanging institutional expertise and adopting best practices in managing business councils and sectoral working groups. This initiative aims to advance the business environment and improve service efficiency for Chamber members. Following this, a working session was held to showcase Sharjah Chamber's ongoing initiatives designed to empower the private sector and boost competitiveness.

Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi highlighted the strong historical ties between the UAE and Qatar, noting their robust economic partnership. He stated that "the UAE ranks as Qatar’s leading Gulf and Arab trading partner and holds the eighth position globally." In 2023, non-oil foreign trade between them grew by 18.3% to about AED 37 billion compared to 2022.

The two chambers explored practical frameworks for joint collaboration focusing on knowledge exchange between their sectoral working groups. They discussed developing joint programs to support members, strengthen economic ties, and expand investment cooperation. The strategic role of sectoral business groups in fostering cross-sector economic relations was also highlighted.

Al Awadi affirmed SCCI's commitment to building on strong bilateral ties with Qatar through collaboration in knowledge exchange. These efforts aim to enhance the business climate, drive growth in priority sectors, and enable the private sector as a strategic contributor to sustainable economic development.

The Qatari delegation emphasised that this meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between SCCI and Qatar Chamber. They stressed that exchanging expertise in managing sectoral working groups is a strategic step toward creating a cohesive framework that fosters economic growth aligned with private sector aspirations.

The session also underscored the importance of developing a supportive ecosystem for business growth in Sharjah. This involves promoting investment partnerships and enhancing cross-sector economic relations through strategic initiatives led by sectoral business groups.
