SCC Reviews Urban Planning Strategies For Sustainable Growth In Sharjah
The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) recently held its fourth plenary session, focusing on the Department of Town Planning and Survey's (SDTPS) policies. The discussions highlighted the need for comprehensive urban planning and sustainable development within the Emirate. The session addressed the rapid growth and significant projects shaping Sharjah's future.
Engineer Hamad Jumaa Al Shamsi, Chairman of SDTPS, attended the meeting alongside Engineer Ali Sultan bin Butti Al Muhairi, Director of the Department, and Waleed bin Falah Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Land Allocation. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in urban development.

The SCC emphasised SDTPS's crucial role in crafting Sharjah's urban vision. This involves ensuring resource sustainability and aligning with broader development policies. The department's strategic plan for 2025-2028 was a focal point, aiming to manage urban growth through community involvement and enhancing quality of life.
Engineer Hamad Juma Al Shamsi stated that their initiatives align with directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He also acknowledged H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi's supervision as vital to their mission.
Al Shamsi highlighted that support from the Consultative Council is essential for developing effective systems and policies. This backing enhances institutional performance efficiency, which is crucial for achieving their strategic goals.
The department outlined its strategic policy during the session, focusing on developing urban, service, and institutional systems. These efforts aim to improve living standards while promoting sustainable development across the Emirate.
