Saudi Fund For Development Enhances Higher Education In The Gambia With $10 Million Loan

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has marked a significant milestone in its longstanding partnership with the Republic of The Gambia through the inauguration of the University of The Gambia (UTG) Faraba Banta Campus. This event, attended by Deputy CEO of SFD, Eng. Faisal Al-Qahtani, alongside Gambian President Adama Barrow and other dignitaries, underscores a pivotal step forward in the realm of higher education within The Gambia.

The SFD's contribution to this landmark project came in the form of a $10 million soft development loan, aimed at bolstering the university's capacity to offer comprehensive education and research opportunities. This financial backing facilitated the construction of a sprawling university complex, extending over 34,000 square meters. Designed to accommodate approximately 4,500 students, the new campus is equipped with faculties spanning engineering, technical studies, administration, and economics.
