Saudi Arabia Advances Connecting Humanity Initiative To Bridge Global Digital Divide

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, shared insights from a significant study at the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25). This study highlights Saudi Arabia's global dedication to reducing the digital divide and enhancing technological connections, especially for communities lacking internet access.

The "Connecting Humanity" initiative, launched by Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union, aims to provide sustainable and affordable solutions. It focuses on connectivity, infrastructure, capacity building, access costs, policies, and regulations to bridge the digital gap. The commission emphasised that this study aligns with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting international initiatives and adopting best practices to reduce the digital divide among nations.

The technical study accompanying this initiative revealed that closing the global digital divide by 2030 will require investments between $2.6 trillion and $2.8 trillion.
