Saud Bin Saqr Receives Canadian Consul-General To Discuss RAK Terry Fox Run And Cancer Research Support
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, underscored the importance of charitable activities as a fundamental aspect of UAE's cultural fabric. The RAK Terry Fox Run 2024 charity event took place on 16th November along the Al Qawasim Corniche. It was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi in collaboration with the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Work. The event saw significant participation from the local community.
During a meeting at his palace in Saqr bin Mohammed City, H.H. Sheikh Saud met with Tracy Reynolds, Consul-General of Canada in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, along with members of the organising committee of the RAK Terry Fox Run. The proceeds from this event were allocated to the University of Sharjah to establish an incubator supporting student-led scientific research on cancer diseases.
H.H. Sheikh Saud highlighted how such humanitarian initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing social responsibility and fostering unity within communities. He emphasised that acts of giving inspire hope and cultivate optimism among future generations.
The University of Sharjah delegation received a cheque representing the event’s proceeds during this meeting. This initiative underscores Ras Al Khaimah’s dedication to supporting academic institutions, empowering them to address significant health challenges effectively.
Organisers expressed their gratitude to RAK Ruler for his steadfast support of charitable initiatives. They noted that this annual race honours Canadian athlete Terry Fox's legacy while contributing to cancer research funding and raising public awareness.
