Saud Bin Saqr Reviews National Library And Archives Strategy For Cultural Heritage Preservation
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, emphasised the importance of preserving the nation's documentary records. He stated that this is crucial for safeguarding national identity and enhancing public awareness of the UAE's rich heritage. This statement was made during a meeting at Saqr bin Mohammed Palace with Dr Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the National Library and Archives.
The meeting included a briefing on the National Library and Archives' long-term strategic plan. This plan focuses on preserving the UAE's documentary heritage. H.H. Sheikh Saud praised the institution for its role as a national centre in maintaining the country's collective memory and reinforcing its cultural legacy.
The 2023–2032 institutional strategy was discussed, highlighting key priorities such as enhancing digital archiving tools and launching innovative initiatives to foster a knowledge-driven society. The strategy also aims to strengthen documentation and research roles both locally and globally.
H.H. Sheikh Saud commended ongoing efforts to develop an advanced system for document preservation. He stressed that investing in archival science is essential for supporting sustainable development and ensuring the country's memory is preserved for future generations.
Dr Abdulla Majid Al Ali expressed gratitude for H.H. Sheikh Saud’s continuous support. He highlighted the institution’s commitment to implementing its strategic vision through an integrated approach guided by wise leadership directives, aiming to enhance the UAE’s global standing in archiving and knowledge preservation.
