Saqr Ghobash And Malta's House Speaker Discuss Cooperation And Sign Agreement
Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council (FNC), recently met with Angelo Farrugia, Speaker of Malta's House of Representatives, at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The Maltese delegation visited the UAE following an invitation from the FNC. Their discussions centred on strengthening existing friendship and parliamentary cooperation between both nations.
The meeting explored ways to improve coordination and consultation on shared interests. Both parties discussed enhancing communication, exchanging parliamentary visits, and organising bilateral meetings. These efforts aim to coordinate during regional and international parliamentary events like the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Ghobash and Farrugia signed a cooperation agreement during their meeting. This agreement reaffirmed their commitment to promoting security, stability, peace, and human rights protection. It also emphasised strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced consultation and coordination on mutual concerns.
The agreement highlighted the importance of fostering communication through visits and events. It also encouraged holding bilateral meetings between representatives during joint regional and international forums. This reflects the vision of both countries' leaderships and aligns with their growing mutual interests.
Ghobash emphasised that the UAE's policy focuses on building friendships globally. He stressed promoting cooperation, dialogue, understanding based on tolerance, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution as key priorities for the UAE.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Angelo Farrugia praised the strengthening ties between the UAE and Malta across various sectors. He noted that the agreement would enhance parliamentary relations further. Farrugia also highlighted how this cooperation supports government work through effective parliamentary engagement.
The meeting was attended by several FNC officials and members who witnessed these discussions aimed at deepening ties between both nations' legislative bodies.
