SAKINA And Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Introduce Dedicated Women's Mental Health Clinic In Abu Dhabi

A new clinic dedicated to women's mental health has been launched by SAKINA, a leading mental health network under SEHA, and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), both part of the PureHealth group. This facility offers a comprehensive approach to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress, focusing on holistic and patient-centered care.

The clinic is strategically located at Level 4, Tower A, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. It operates from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm, providing easy access for women seeking specialised mental health services in the capital. The facility is unique in Abu Dhabi for being exclusively operated by female psychiatrists and psychologists.

One of the primary focuses of this initiative is perinatal and postnatal mental health. The clinic integrates mental health assessments into routine antenatal care during pregnancy and offers dedicated support after childbirth. This proactive approach helps identify at-risk women early, allowing for timely intervention.

Dr Zain Al Yafei, CEO of SAKINA, emphasised the importance of this launch by stating: "The launch of the Women’s Mental Health Clinic is a vital step toward ensuring accessible and specialised care for women, reinforcing our commitment to fostering well-being and resilience. The clinic provides a range of services including full psychological assessments, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), group therapy sessions, peer support networks, and interventions aimed at reducing social isolation while enhancing emotional resilience. These services are tailored specifically for women experiencing distress related to their emotional health.

Dr Abdulqader Almessabi, Chief Medical Officer at SSMC, highlighted the significance of this initiative: "Women’s health is a priority at SSMC. Through the introduction of this dedicated clinic, we aim to empower women to seek the support they need within an empathetic environment. We believe that by providing a welcoming space where women feel valued and understood, we create opportunities for open discussions about mental health and foster long-term well-being."
