Saif Bin Zayed And Russian Interior Minister Discuss Enhanced Security Cooperation In Moscow
H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, recently visited Moscow to meet Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Russian Federation's Minister of the Interior. Their discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding security and police relations between the UAE and Russia. They explored ways to enhance cooperation in these sectors.
The meeting took place at the Russian Ministry of the Interior's headquarters. It highlighted the importance of international collaboration for societal security. Both leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at crime prevention and control between their respective ministries.
The UAE-Russia Strategic Police Dialogue was officially launched during this visit. This initiative aims to deepen strategic partnerships across various domains. It focuses on enhancing mutual ties and sharing expertise in combating transnational crime.
The dialogue encourages both nations to exchange best practices in modern policing. It draws on their extensive experience and achievements in this field. The initiative is expected to foster greater collaboration between the two countries.
Two significant MoUs were signed during this meeting. One focuses on cooperation in combating crime, including organized crime, drug offenses, child sexual exploitation, cybercrime, environmental crimes, and cultural heritage protection.
The agreements pave the way for enhanced coordination in information exchange and expertise sharing. They also include provisions for joint training programs aimed at tackling various criminal activities effectively.
High-Level Attendance
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both countries. Notable attendees included Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; and Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Russia, along with other officials from both ministries, also participated in the discussions. Their presence underscored the significance of this bilateral engagement.
This visit marks a significant step forward in UAE-Russia relations within the security sector. The agreements reached are expected to enhance cooperation and promote societal security through joint efforts.
