Saif Bin Zayed Meets Baniyas Women’s Team To Celebrate Their Jiu-Jitsu Championship Success
Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recently met with the Baniyas Women’s Team. This meeting followed their third consecutive win in the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Championship Cup. The gathering included the team’s technical and administrative staff, alongside several members from the Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club’s Board of Directors.
H.H. Sheikh Saif praised both players and coaches for their dedication and success. He encouraged them to continue their rigorous training to not only excel in local competitions but also to represent the UAE on international stages through national teams. His words aimed to inspire further achievements beyond domestic boundaries.

The Baniyas Women’s Team achieved remarkable success by securing 49 medals in total. Their haul included 24 gold, 15 silver, and 10 bronze medals. The team comprises 64 players distributed across five age categories: adult women, under-18 young women, and junior girls under 16, 14, and 12 years old.
The tournament highlighted exceptional technical standards with Baniyas Club athletes showcasing advanced skills. Their strong performances demonstrated their competence and training capabilities against other national teams. This reflects the progress of women’s jiu-jitsu within the UAE.
Present at the meeting were Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of the Club's Board of Directors; Brigadier Nasser Khadem Al Kaabi, Vice Chairman; Salem Nayef Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Club’s Sports Games Company; along with several club officials. Their presence underscored the importance of this achievement for the club.
Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club remains committed to excelling in jiu-jitsu for both genders. They focus on training athletes to high standards while investing in emerging talent. The club aims to prepare players to represent the UAE in international competitions, ensuring a strong presence on global platforms.
