Saif Bin Zayed Participates In Moscow Symposium On Family's Role In Empowering Society

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, participated in an international symposium in Moscow. Organised by the Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities with Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia, the event was titled "The Role of the Family in Empowering Society."

The symposium highlighted the family as society's cornerstone, essential for societal security and identity preservation. It emphasised human values and societal safety, with discussions on family protection and societal cohesion. Experts from various fields attended, including religious leaders from different faiths, thinkers, and social experts.

During his visit, H.H. Sheikh Saif witnessed a memorandum signing between Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia. This agreement aims to establish an Islamic Cultural Centre in Moscow, fostering cultural understanding and promoting tolerance, love, peaceful coexistence, and respect among different cultures.

The symposium also addressed contemporary challenges facing families today. Topics included family disintegration, modern cultural influences, and technological impacts on parenting and relationships. The discussions underscored religious values' role in maintaining family structures and fostering compassion and shared responsibility.

H.H. Sheikh Saif toured an exhibition at Moscow Grand Mosque titled "Minarets of the Two Capitals." Jointly organised by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia, it showcased cultural ties between the UAE and Russia through photographs depicting Islamic architecture.

The exhibition featured professional photographs highlighting Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque's architectural beauty. It also included a mobile library with publications from the mosque centre. Dr. Yousef Al Obaidli, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Russia, along with other officials attended this event.

Moscow Grand Mosque Tour

H.H. Sheikh Saif also explored Moscow Grand Mosque, Europe's largest mosque located in Russia's capital. He learned about its history, decorations, inscriptions, and its role in promoting cultural convergence through interfaith dialogue events hosted there since its reconstruction in 2015.

This mosque has received support from the UAE for its humanitarian projects since reopening. Its facilities serve as a platform for religious and cultural events that encourage dialogue between different faiths while promoting peace.

The symposium aimed to enhance religions' shared role in building stable societies by focusing on families as society's nucleus bridging generations and cultures while promoting tolerance values.
