Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Chairs Meeting To Enhance Digital Wellbeing In The UAE

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, led the 2025 Digital Wellbeing Council meeting in Abu Dhabi. The gathering took place at the National Media Office. The Council evaluated ongoing and completed projects aimed at enhancing digital wellbeing within Emirati society.

The discussions centred on advancing a national strategy to foster a safer and more responsible digital environment. Members explored methods to encourage ethical use of digital technologies, strengthen partnerships among national entities, and protect the community from online risks.

Key initiatives were reviewed, including the Age Rating System for Electronic Games and Films. This system helps safeguard users from inappropriate content. The Council also examined the Digital Wellbeing Charter, developed with Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat, which introduced programs to enhance children's digital safety.

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) presented its proactive monitoring efforts. These efforts target websites and accounts that contravene societal values, reflecting leadership directives to protect families and communities while fostering a safe digital culture.

Attendees included Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment & Vice Chairperson of the Council; Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice; Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office; Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education; Sana Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family; Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Executive Advisor at the Supreme Council for National Security; Khalid Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Federal Youth Authority; along with several senior officials.

The meeting underscored the importance of promoting positive engagement with modern digital platforms. It highlighted initiatives supporting user protection and ethical technology use across Emirati society.

The Council's efforts align with leadership directives to create a high-quality digital culture that is safe and conscious. By focusing on these initiatives, they aim to ensure a secure online environment for all community members.
