SAA Welcomes Caspian Airlines To Enhance Travel Connections With Iran

Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) has given the green light to Iran's Caspian Airlines to begin regular passenger flights linking Sharjah with five key Iranian cities. These new routes, which commenced on 8 December 2025, are expected to significantly enhance travel, tourism, and trade connections between the UAE and Iran.

The airline will operate a total of seven weekly flights from Tehran, three from Lamerd, two from Qeshm, and one each from Shiraz and Bandar Abbas. The flights will utilise Boeing 737-500 aircraft, each accommodating 120 passengers.

Caspian Airlines Launches New Routes from Sharjah

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, expressed his enthusiasm for welcoming Caspian Airlines as a new international carrier in the airport's growing network. He highlighted that this addition is a testament to Sharjah Airport’s ongoing operational expansion and its strong infrastructure capabilities. This development aligns with Sharjah’s long-term aviation strategy by enhancing air connectivity, tourism, trade, and investment opportunities.

Caspian Airlines CEO Adel Norali remarked that these new routes represent a pivotal moment for the airline. With over three decades of operational experience and an international network spanning more than 11 destinations, the airline aims to bolster economic, tourism, and cultural ties between the UAE and Iran. Norali emphasised their commitment to providing safe, reliable air travel that meets international standards.

The introduction of Caspian Airlines' scheduled services further solidifies Sharjah Airport's status as a regional aviation hub. In the third quarter of 2025 alone, passenger numbers reached 5.12 million—an impressive increase of 16.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Additionally, aircraft movements rose by 10.7%, totalling 30,737 flights during this time frame.

These figures underscore the airport's growing global significance and its dedication to offering seamless services focused on passenger satisfaction. The collaboration with Caspian Airlines is expected to contribute positively to this trajectory.

The partnership between Sharjah Airport Authority and Caspian Airlines not only enhances air connectivity but also strengthens economic ties between the UAE and Iran. This strategic move supports both countries' goals in boosting tourism and trade relations while ensuring compliance with international travel standards.
