Rusty Wyatt Of Sharjah Team Secures Pole Position In Challenging Conditions At 2024 UIM F1H2O Championship

Sharjah Team's Rusty Wyatt clinched the top spot in Round 4 of the 2024 UIM F1H2O World Championship. Wyatt excelled in challenging conditions, securing pole position during a hectic qualifying session for the Grand Prix of Shanghai, China. The session took place on Saturday morning amid tricky water conditions.

Defending champion Jonas Andersson from Team Vietnam finished 1.256 seconds behind Wyatt. Erik Stark from Victory Team completed the top three qualifiers. Andersson's teammate, Stefan Arand, and Dutch competitor Ferdinand Zandbergen secured fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Wyatt Takes Pole Position at UIM F1H2O Championship

Wyatt's impressive performance also propelled him to the top of the F1H2O Pole Position Trophy standings. Expressing his delight, Wyatt stated: "It was so rough. At the beginning of the session, we almost lost it coming into the front straight. It was unbelievable out there, so windy, so choppy, so many boats. Trying to find a good line, we made it happen and quite a gap we put together."

Initially setting the pace early in the session, Wyatt faced competition from Stark who led after seven minutes with a lap time of 46.154 seconds. However, Wyatt reclaimed first place at the ten-minute mark with a lap of 45.817 seconds, pushing Stark to second and leaving Andersson in third with a time of 46.320 seconds.

Erik Stark regained his lead with a lap time of 45.255 seconds as 29 minutes remained in the session. Stefan Arand moved into fourth place ahead of Thani Al-Qamzi from Team Abu Dhabi and Ben Jelf from F1 Atlantic Team. Arand then surged into second place with a lap time of 45.772 seconds.

Despite fierce competition among the top five drivers, Wyatt reclaimed provisional pole position with an impressive lap time of 44.108 seconds. Andersson also improved his standing by surpassing Stark with a lap time of 44.740 seconds.

Marit Strømøy was notably absent from the water throughout this session as she chose not to participate at all.

The event showcased intense rivalry among top competitors as they navigated challenging conditions to secure their positions in this prestigious championship series.
