Stavropol Gears Up For KARDO International Street Culture And Sports Award Final

From 22 to 25 August, Stavropol will host the final of the VII International Street Culture and Sports Award (KARDO). TV BRICS, an international media partner of the event, reported that around 2,500 participants from various countries will attend. "Contestants from 46 countries have already confirmed their presence," said Vladimir Vladimirov, Governor of the Stavropol Territory.

Registration is ongoing, with expectations that up to 4,000 athletes and artists from 110 countries will apply. Qualifying stages have taken place in Argentina, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. This year's awards will recognise excellence in 11 types of modern street culture and sports.

The KARDO competition has been held annually in Russia since 2018. It is unique as it is the only award globally that honours contributions to street culture and sports. The event aims to support emerging talents and create opportunities for young people.

Visitors to KARDO can enjoy concerts by famous performers, lectures by opinion leaders, and excursions around Stavropol. In total, the programme includes more than 20 events. Masters of trends such as vorkout, parkour, graffiti, hip-hop, skateboarding, BMX and stunt scooter will showcase their skills.

The final of the award will serve as an international platform for dialogue. According to Valentin Rabotenko, chairman of the all-Russian organisation "Streets of Russia," KARDO acts as a tourism attraction for host countries.

Organisers and Support

The event is organised by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation "Russia – Land of Opportunities," the Government of the Stavropol Territory, and "Streets of Russia." Support comes from several entities including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo.

KARDO's goal is to foster a vibrant community around street culture and sports while providing social mobility for young talents. The event not only highlights artistic skills but also promotes cultural exchange among participants from different nations.
