Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Hosts Ruler's Court Elite Men's Cycling Race In Dubai
The Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai recently hosted the 'Ruler’s Court Elite Men’s Cycling Race'. This event, part of the ninth Al Salam Cycling Championship, is renowned for its technical excellence and diverse participation. It is considered the largest community cycling race globally in terms of diversity and prize value. The race commenced from the historic Al Fahidi district, with special arrangements by the Supreme Organising Committee.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum graced the event with his presence. The official launch was attended by key figures including Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani and Omair bin Jumaa Al Falasi, who flagged off the race. Other notable attendees were Essa Al Mutaiwei and Saeed Hareb, along with members of the Supreme Organising Committee.

Cyclists embarked on a 193-kilometre journey through Dubai's iconic landmarks. The route included sites like the Old Dubai Customs Building, Dubai Creek, and Za’abeel Palace. The race concluded at the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve, showcasing both competitive spirit and scenic views.
At the race's conclusion, Omair bin Jumaa Al Falasi and Essa Al Mutaiwee crowned the winners. Matevz Govekar from Shabab Al Ahli Umniah Cycling Team secured first place in the individual category. Tim Wellens from MyWhoosh Cycling Team came second, followed by Abdulla Jassim in third place.
In team rankings, Shabab Al Ahli Umniah emerged victorious. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs took second place, while MyWhoosh Cycling Team finished third. Tariq Al Blooshi won in the over-40s category for his outstanding performance.
Significance and Future Events
Omair bin Jumaa Al Falasi expressed gratitude to the Ruler’s Court for hosting this significant event. He stressed collaboration with government entities to promote national achievements. "The Championship plays a crucial role in educating future generations about Dubai’s rich heritage," he stated.
Al Falasi praised participants for their performances and highlighted how such events encourage healthier lifestyles. He extended thanks to strategic partners like Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality for their support. The Championship continues with a Desert Race on 9th February 2025, followed by a Women’s Race on 16th February 2025.
The event not only celebrated athletic prowess but also aimed to instil appreciation for Dubai's history and leadership among participants and spectators alike.
