RTA's Smart Monitoring System Significantly Improves Tracking Of Driving School User Behaviour
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has introduced a Smart Monitoring System to enhance the supervision of driving school instructors and trainees. This system, which uses AI-powered cameras, has significantly improved monitoring efficiency. Over the past seven months, it tracked 1,734,790 training sessions involving 245,764 trainees, marking a 14-fold increase from the previous year.
By employing advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and computer vision, the system ensures continuous real-time monitoring. Cameras installed in driving school vehicles detect violations such as mobile phone use, not wearing seat belts, or leaving designated zones. This enhances supervision during training sessions and maintains high safety standards.

RTA's Licensing Intelligent Operations Centre manages this innovative system. It has reduced inspection times from 20 minutes to just one minute while increasing recorded violations fivefold. This comprehensive tool improves training service quality by upholding stringent safety measures.
The initiative aligns with Dubai's strategic goals for digital transformation and innovation. It fosters a safe and professional environment for driver training by preparing individuals to meet high standards. The system represents a shift in field monitoring concepts within the transport sector.
RTA collaborates with strategic partners to ensure compliance with regulations, promoting a safe working environment. Companies play a crucial role in adhering to these standards, which is essential for delivering reliable training services. The new system reinforces awareness of regulatory compliance across all institutes.
This year, additional features like predictive analytics will be integrated into the system. These enhancements aim to create a more robust monitoring framework by combining instructor performance data with licensing systems. Such innovations support RTA’s vision of seamless and sustainable mobility.
The Smart Monitoring System underscores RTA’s commitment to digital transformation in monitoring practices. It reflects their drive towards becoming a leader in seamless mobility solutions while ensuring safety and efficiency in driving schools across Dubai.
