RTA Achieves 16% Growth In Digital Revenues For 2024, Reaching AED4.4 Billion
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported a 16% increase in digital revenues for 2024, totalling AED4.427 billion compared to the previous year. Digital transactions have surged to 679.6 million, with 13.4 million conducted through RTA’s smart applications. App downloads have grown by 18%, reaching 3.742 million, while registered users on RTA apps have risen by 27.5% to 1.94 million.
Parking tickets issued via smart applications have also seen a significant rise, reaching 29.973 million, marking a 24% increase. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, expressed satisfaction with this growth in digital services. He highlighted the RTA's dedication to enhancing offerings through various digital channels.

Al Tayer stated, "This initiative ensures seamless, integrated, and proactive services that elevate Dubai’s digital quality of life and drive the city's digital transformation. Our ambition at the RTA is to lead in harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver exceptional services, develop innovative solutions, and increase residents’ and visitors’ happiness." Customer satisfaction across digital channels has reached an impressive 96%.
The RTA is guided by leadership directives to improve Dubai's quality of life and global competitiveness, aiming for it to be the world's smartest city. Significant progress is being made in adopting AI technologies for intelligent data analysis, traffic management, and self-driving mobility within an integrated system leveraging advanced technologies.
This drive is further complemented by collaboration with private sector partners, delivering smart solutions that meet rapidly evolving customer needs. This positions Dubai as a global hub for innovation and sustainability. Al Tayer added that more than 33 services had been launched on the unified RTA app as part of a comprehensive roadmap.
The roadmap aims to automate services, enhance AI and data science capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and optimise resource utilisation following a flexible approach aligned with the 360 Services Policy. A notable introduction includes the Samsung portfolio for storing driver and vehicle licences in the RTA app—a first in the GCC.
Enhancements Across Platforms
The S’hail app underwent major updates with nine enhancements to improve mobility as a service. This led to a 12.8% increase in app downloads and a 39% rise in transactions totalling 46 million. The RTA has also introduced new features on its website like renting spaces at tram and metro stations with 360-degree views.
Nol card services activation and online payments for sales requests at Customer Happiness Centres are now available too. These improvements boosted user services and increased website transaction volume by 12.5%. A new version of Mahboub Chatbot powered by generative AI was launched to enhance response quality.
Integration with 'Dubai Now' App
The use of generative AI in Mahboub expanded from 30% to full capacity in both Arabic and English languages alongside introducing unified login across smart apps and Mahboub itself last year saw five smart kiosks installed at strategic locations offering payment services via bank cards only supporting Dubai's Cashless Strategy.
RTA launched fifteen services on ‘Dubai Now’ app under its 360 Services Policy achieving full compliance covering driver & vehicle licensing while transforming Madinati service into an integrated digital city service incorporating Dubai Municipality using AI technologies analysing images identifying issues determining responsible authorities automatically generating descriptions.
