RTA Hosts Engaging Pink October Events To Enhance Health Awareness Among Female Employees

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) hosted various activities in October to support Pink October, the global breast cancer awareness month. This initiative aimed to boost health awareness and promote healthy lifestyle choices among female staff, highlighting the significance of early detection and prevention.

Meera Al Shaikh, Chairperson of RTA’s Women’s Committee, noted that throughout October, a comprehensive programme was implemented. It included workshops and awareness sessions led by experts from top medical and nutritional institutions. These sessions focused on women's psychological, physical, and nutritional wellbeing at work.

The programme featured a Jesmonite arts and crafts workshop designed to relieve stress and promote relaxation. Additionally, Dr. Sama Zibdeh, Consultant Breast Surgeon at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, conducted an awareness session on the latest prevention and treatment methods. Union Coop also provided commemorative gifts to participants, alongside a photo session at the Women’s Committee headquarters.

An engaging workshop on healthy nutrition was conducted by a certified nutrition specialist. This session emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The programme also included an interactive activity called ‘Make Your Own Salad,’ encouraging participants to engage with their dietary choices actively.

The events incorporated a yoga and breathing session aimed at enhancing mental clarity, revitalising the body, and reducing stress and anxiety levels. In partnership with Prime Hospital, free medical check-ups were offered. These included health consultations specifically for female employees.

Maison Elite Clinic and Call Doctor Group contributed by providing educational sessions focused on general and aesthetic health. These sessions were part of the broader effort to ensure comprehensive health education for participants.

Al Shaikh highlighted the strong participation from female employees in these events. She stated that such initiatives are crucial for fostering a supportive environment where women can prioritise their health effectively.
