RTA Unveils Logisty Platform To Transform Freight Transport Services In Dubai

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with TruKKer to introduce "Logisty," a new digital logistics platform. This initiative aims to enhance commercial transport services, manage logistics and vehicle fleets, and offer on-demand booking and tracking. The platform is set to transform the logistics sector, reinforcing Dubai's status as a leading logistics hub in the region.

The introduction of Logisty aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It supports the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to position Dubai among the top three global economic cities. The platform also adheres to the Dubai Commercial Road Transport & Logistics Strategy 2030, which aims to double the sector's economic contribution to AED16.8 billion.

Logisty incorporates advanced technologies, including an AI-powered CBM Calculator for estimating shipment volumes using photos or videos. This feature exemplifies how technology is being integrated into logistics operations to improve efficiency. The platform will provide state-of-the-art solutions for freight transportation, keeping pace with industry innovations.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, highlighted that Logisty reflects RTA's commitment to innovative solutions prioritising residents' needs. He stated, "The launch of the 'Logisty' platform is a testament to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for enhancing the global competitiveness of Dubai as a leading centre for finance, business, and economy."

The commercial transport sector in Dubai has seen significant growth due to e-commerce expansion over recent years. Currently, there are over 10,000 commercial transport companies in Dubai. The sector has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 34% over five years and created more than 242,000 jobs.

In 2023 alone, the transport and storage sector contributed AED31.4 billion to Dubai’s GDP. This accounted for 42.8% of GDP with its highest growth rate at 7.8% during Q2 of that year. These figures underscore the sector's vital role in Dubai's economy.

The Commercial Road Transport & Logistics Strategy 2030 outlines 17 projects aimed at boosting sector growth and competitiveness. These initiatives focus on digital platforms and data-driven technologies while fostering high-potential companies' growth. Collaboration with commercial transport operators will ensure modern vehicles are used efficiently.

The Logisty platform will officially launch its services in December 2024. It aims to deliver efficient and reliable freight transport solutions that enhance user experience while aligning with industry innovations. This move further solidifies Dubai’s position as a premier logistics hub in the region.

Al Tayer emphasised RTA's dedication to quality solutions through private sector partnerships like TruKKer: "Such efforts contribute to providing businesses and customers with solutions that are transparent, secure, and efficient." By leveraging advanced technologies from TruKKer, RTA aims to offer innovative logistics services.
