EURO 2024 Sees Romania, Slovakia, And Belgium Progress To Round 16
Slovakia and Romania played to a 1-1 draw in the UEFA EURO 2024 Group E match in Frankfurt. Both teams advanced to the last 16, with Romania topping the group and Slovakia finishing third. Răzvan Marin's penalty equalised Ondrej Duda's goal, ensuring both teams progressed.
Slovakia began aggressively, pressing high and challenging Romania's defence. Juraj Kucka had an early header opportunity, followed by Dávid Hancko's shot that went over the bar. This initial pressure set the tone for a competitive match.

Romania quickly responded with their first on-target attempt from Andrei Rațiu, which Martin Dúbravka saved brilliantly. Slovakia then created their best chance when a Duda free-kick narrowly missed. Moments later, Duda scored with a perfect header.
Romania reacted swiftly with another Rațiu strike, again blocked by Dúbravka. The equaliser came soon after when Romania was awarded a penalty for a foul on Ianis Hagi. Răzvan Marin converted the penalty emphatically, bringing the score level.
The game continued to be dynamic. Lukáš Haraslín made a break from the left but was denied by Florin Niță. Marin then attempted a shot from the edge of the box, only for Dúbravka to save it.
Continued Efforts
Dávid Strelec also had his moment, but Niță was well-positioned to save his shot. Slovakia kept pushing with Haraslín’s curler just missing the target. Both teams maintained their efforts throughout the match.
The draw ensured both sides moved into the round of 16. Romania made history by winning a EURO group for the first time, while Slovakia secured third place with four points.
