ROCKWOOL Denmark Dominates Day 1 At Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Final
ROCKWOOL Denmark emerged as the leading team on the first day of SailGP Abu Dhabi. They topped the leaderboard after four fleet races in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final, presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The pressure was intense for the top four teams in Season 5 to secure a spot in the $2 million winner-takes-all Grand Final.
The racing took place at Zayed Port, featuring 12 international teams competing on high-performance F50 foiling catamarans. These vessels can reach speeds exceeding 100 km/h. However, during this event, they raced at slower speeds, with a record of 31.14 km/h set by the German team. Most races occurred within a speed range of 10-20 km/h.

All teams used the fleet's new 27.5-meter wingsail for the first time, along with light-air foils and rudders, to maximise performance in the 7-10 km/h breeze. Despite challenges faced by top teams, emerging crews showed promise, raising hopes for a potential first-time event winner in Abu Dhabi.
ROCKWOOL Racing stood out as the most consistent team of the day, securing podium finishes in all four fleet races with two wins, a second place, and a third place. They accumulated 37 points on the event leaderboard, providing a comfortable lead over Mubadala Brazil and Red Bull Italy, both tied at 22 points each.
The competition continues tomorrow with two more qualifying fleet races. After these races, an event winner will be determined, overall season standings will be finalised, and the top three teams will advance to the Grand Final race. Only one team will be crowned as the 2025 Season Rolex SailGP Champion.
A total prize pool of $3.2 million is available throughout the weekend. The event winners will share $800K among podium finishers. Additionally, $400K is reserved for the highest-ranked team based on season points, while $2 million awaits this season's Rolex SailGP Champions.
Season Finale in Abu Dhabi
