Saudi's Riyadh Air To Elevate Global Connectivity With Mid-2025 Launch

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's latest national airline, is gearing up for its commercial launch by the end of the first half of 2025. This announcement was made by Riyadh Air's Chief Operating Officer, Peter Bellew, during the Singapore Airshow, signaling a notable development in the global airline industry.

Owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, Riyadh Air is positioning itself as a key player in the aviation sector. The airline, which was officially introduced by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in March 2023, has already made significant strides in its fleet development. Notably, Riyadh Air has confirmed an order for 39 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with options for an additional 33 planes, underscoring its ambitious growth plans.

Riyadh Air will serve as the second flag carrier of the Kingdom, with its primary operations based out of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The airline's strategic positioning in the capital city will facilitate its mission to connect Saudi Arabia with the broader world. Riyadh Air aims to operate scheduled domestic and international flights, covering over 100 destinations across the Middle East and six continents, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to expanding its aviation footprint and enhancing global connectivity.
