Regional Data And Community Development Forum Explores Sustainable Cities And Community Well-Being

The 'Regional Data and Community Development Forum' will take place on October 9-10, organised by the Department of Statistics and Community Development. This event will focus on sustainability, urban planning, and development. It aims to bring together government officials, global business leaders, and data experts to discuss the future of data-driven development and its role in improving quality of life while addressing global challenges.

Over two days at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah, the forum will feature more than 60 sessions. These include 18 talks, 20 panel discussions, and 24 workshops covering sectors like healthcare, education, infrastructure, business, and technology. An exhibition will showcase over ten organisations presenting cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions in data utilisation.

Forum Highlights Sustainable Urban Development Strategies

The session 'What Do Numbers Reveal About Community Satisfaction?' on Day 1 will explore how data can enhance community well-being. Experts will discuss how big data, surveys, and market research identify factors contributing to happiness. They will also highlight data's role in shaping policies for comprehensive development and improving public services.

On Day 2, the main session titled 'Cities of Tomorrow: Data Integration for Sustainable Development' will address urban challenges due to population growth. Panellists will discuss how data shapes smarter cities by designing scalable infrastructure and transportation systems. Esteemed speakers will explore who drives urban expansion and how governments can design future cities proactively.

The 'Data and the Economy of Sustainability' session on Day 2 will delve into advanced data analytics for a sustainable economy. Speakers will examine optimising resource management, developing alternative energy solutions, and fostering waste recycling technologies. The session highlights tools essential for balancing economic growth with environmental preservation through strategic data investments.

Amid concerns about natural disasters, the 'Data-Driven Solutions for Mitigating Natural Disasters' session on Day 2 will explore AI's potential in predicting such events accurately. Experts will debate AI's reliability in forecasting disasters versus caution against over-reliance on technology for critical decisions.

Empowering Future Generations

The forum includes discussions on demographic data's importance in policy development through the session ‘Successful Censuses: Cases from the Region’.
