Reem Al Hashimy Addresses Humanitarian Access And UAE-Italy Relations At MED – Mediterranean Dialogues 2025

Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, attended the MED – Mediterranean Dialogues 2025. This event took place at the Royal Palace in Naples from 15–17 October. It was co-hosted by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

During a Special Dialogue at the event, Reem Al Hashimy addressed the situation in Gaza. She stressed the need to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian access with regional partners' help. Al Hashimy confirmed the UAE's commitment to speeding up aid delivery and supporting measures that allow assistance to reach those in need quickly and safely.

Al Hashimy highlighted the robust strategic relations between the UAE and Italy. She noted both countries' dedication to boosting cooperation in key sectors to support sustainable development and regional stability. She mentioned major infrastructure projects and the Eni–Khazna data centre project as examples of joint ventures fostering innovation, competitiveness, and growth.

Artificial intelligence is seen as a vital strategic pillar for the UAE's future. Al Hashimy emphasised this reflects the country's commitment to using technology for sustainable development and advanced industries.

The MED – Mediterranean Dialogues serves as an essential platform for regional engagement. It brings together officials, experts, and thought leaders to discuss topics like stability, connectivity, economic resilience, migration governance, and how ideas and culture can rebuild trust.

On the sidelines of the forum, Al Hashimy met with Luigi Di Maio, European Union Special Representative for the Gulf. They discussed regional developments and coordination on de-escalation and humanitarian priorities. Additionally, she engaged with think tank officials to exchange views on regional trends and explore areas for enhanced policy cooperation.

This gathering underscores the importance of dialogue in addressing pressing issues in the region. By fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, it aims to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across Mediterranean nations.
