Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Authority And Trip.com Group Strengthen Alliance To Attract Chinese Travellers

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and Trip.com Group have formalised a new partnership at ITB Berlin 2025. This agreement aims to enhance Ras Al Khaimah's attractiveness as a destination for Chinese tourists. The collaboration builds on previous successes and introduces initiatives to increase the emirate's visibility and accessibility in China, a rapidly expanding travel market.

The MoU was signed by Amanda Wang, Vice President of Trip.com Group, and Iyad Rasbey, Vice President of Destination Tourism Development at RAKTDA. This agreement leverages Trip.com Group’s digital ecosystem and consumer insights to implement strategic marketing efforts. These initiatives will engage Chinese travellers throughout their journey, from planning to experiencing the destination.

Ras Al Khaimah Partners with Trip.com for Tourism Growth

Through immersive storytelling and targeted promotions, Ras Al Khaimah is set to become a prime choice for Chinese visitors seeking an Arabian getaway. The emirate offers stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and top-tier hospitality. It presents a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and history, offering an alternative to traditional Middle Eastern destinations.

Since the partnership began in June 2024, Trip.com Group has generated over 17.5 million page impressions for Ras Al Khaimah. This collaboration has significantly impacted the hospitality sector, with hotel bookings rising by 22% in the latter half of 2024 due to focused promotions and marketing campaigns.

Trip.com Group recognised RAKTDA's success by awarding it "Outstanding Strategic Partner of the Year" and "Best Overseas Partner of 2024" at its Global Partner Summit in December 2024. Iyad Rasbey noted that China is one of the fastest-growing source markets. He emphasised that extending this partnership is crucial for exploring new growth opportunities.

Amanda Wang highlighted the shared vision with Ras Al Khaimah’s appeal to Chinese travellers. She stated that they plan to enhance digital capabilities with RAKTDA to create engaging stories for Chinese visitors. By increasing marketing efforts on their platforms, they aim to attract more tourists to explore this remarkable emirate.

Innovative Initiatives

The next phase of collaboration includes launching a flagship Ras Al Khaimah Star Hub store on Ctrip, Trip.com Group’s main travel booking platform for Chinese travellers. This virtual space will offer travel inspiration, promotions, and curated itineraries. Additionally, RAKTDA is improving the travel experience by providing language support and digital payment solutions for Chinese tourists visiting the emirate.

RAKTDA reported its most successful year in 2024 with 1.28 million overnight arrivals. This marked a 12% increase in tourism revenues and a notable 15% rise in MICE visitors. These achievements reflect the Emirate’s strategic growth vision aiming to attract over 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.
