Ras Al Khaimah Ruler Welcomes Delegations From Guangdong Province And Signs Hydrogen Energy Agreement

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, recently hosted two delegations from Guangdong Province, China. The first delegation was led by Bai Tao, Mayor of Foshan City, while the second was headed by Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou. These meetings aimed to strengthen ties between Ras Al Khaimah and these Chinese cities.

The meeting with Foshan officials included the signing of a hydrogen cooperation agreement between Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and Foshan Institute of Environment and Energy Technology (FIEET). This agreement builds on a previous accord signed during H.H. Sheikh Saud's visit to China last November. The Strategic Cooperation Agreement aims to enhance innovation in the hydrogen energy sector by leveraging resources and strengths from both parties.

The agreement between RAKTA and FIEET was signed by Esmaeel Hasan Alblooshi, RAKTA Director-General, and Professor Wang Ziyuan, President of FIEET. It seeks to promote technological advancements and industrial cooperation in hydrogen energy for mutual benefit. Both parties aim to align their strategic development objectives through this collaboration.

H.H. Sheikh Saud stated, "This agreement between Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority and Foshan Institute of Environment and Energy Technology is a significant step forward in our efforts to explore sustainable and innovative energy solutions." He emphasised the emirate's commitment to expanding partnerships in technology, industry, and sustainable development with Guangdong Province.

During discussions with the delegations, H.H. Sheikh Saud expressed a warm welcome and reaffirmed the strong friendship between the UAE and China. He highlighted Ras Al Khaimah’s dedication to enhancing partnerships in technology, industry, and sustainable development with Foshan and other Chinese cities.

The discussions explored various areas for bilateral collaboration and investment opportunities. Both parties shared views on developing their future relationship further. H.H. Sheikh Saud emphasised Ras Al Khaimah’s interest in adopting advanced technologies to drive comprehensive development.

Expanding Economic Ties

Mayor Bai Tao thanked H.H. Sheikh Saud for his hospitality and praised Ras Al Khaimah’s progress in economic, cultural, and developmental fields. He noted that these advancements have significantly boosted its regional and global standing.

The agreement will facilitate joint efforts to promote hydrogen-powered public transport projects in Ras Al Khaimah. It also focuses on developing green hydrogen supply systems and supporting infrastructure for clean energy initiatives.

Future Collaborations

The partnership will include joint research on next-generation hydrogen technologies like advanced electrolysers and high-efficiency fuel cells. It also aims to establish platforms for clean energy technology exchange between both regions.

Esmaeel Hasan Alblooshi commented, "We are proud to enter into this strategic partnership with our counterparts in Foshan... By harnessing our complementary strengths... we aim to build a long-term... relationship that supports the development of the hydrogen energy sector in both the UAE and China."

Lately, H.H. Sheikh Saud welcomed a government delegation from Guangzhou led by Vice Mayor Chen Jie. Discussions focused on strengthening government ties with Guangzhou based on an existing agreement covering sectors like digital economy, scientific innovation, advanced manufacturing, smart cities, culture, and tourism.
