RAK Ruler H.H. Sheikh Saud Engages With Emirati Students And UAE Consulate Members In Guangzhou

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, recently visited Guangdong Province in China. During his four-day trip, he met with Emirati students at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. This visit was part of his efforts to strengthen ties between the UAE and China.

Sheikh Saud also engaged with members of the UAE Consulate in Guangzhou. The meeting included Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to China, and Mariam Alshamsi, UAE Consul-General in Guangzhou. Discussions focused on promoting the UAE's interests abroad.

The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah emphasised the importance of Emirati students studying overseas. "Our Emirati students abroad serve as ambassadors of the nation's identity and are a valuable asset in advancing the UAE's development and enhancing its regional and global standing," he stated.

He encouraged these students to maintain high moral standards and remain true to their Emirati values. He urged them to approach their studies with dedication and perseverance.

Sheikh Saud praised the UAE Consulate's role in strengthening international relations. "I was pleased today to meet members of our diplomatic mission in China, who embody an outstanding example of dedication and hard work in serving our nation," he said. Their efforts are crucial for enhancing the UAE's global presence.

The visit also aimed at signing an agreement between Ras Al Khaimah and Guangdong Province. This agreement seeks to foster cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest.

Economic Significance of Guangdong

Guangdong is China's most populous province, with over 126 million residents. It boasts the largest economy among Chinese provinces, with a GDP of $1.9 trillion (AED6.98 trillion) in 2023.

The province is a significant manufacturing hub, featuring key sectors such as electronics, automotive, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-tech industries, finance, and real estate.

This visit underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and China through educational exchanges and diplomatic engagements.
