Rabdan Academy Concludes Second Centres Of Excellence Conference Focused On First Responders' Agility And Resilience

Rabdan Academy recently concluded the second edition of its Centers of Excellence conference in Abu Dhabi. The event, themed 'Agility and Resilience of First Responders,' aimed to enhance the capabilities of first responders in dealing with significant threats and incidents. The conference began with an address by James Anthony Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, who emphasised the importance of collaboration with authorities to prepare individuals for future national security challenges.

Staff Major General Michael Simon Hindmarsh, Chairman of Rabdan Academy’s Board of Trustees, provided a detailed keynote speech on the conference's themes and objectives. Megan Stiffler from Fire and Rescue New South Wales also participated, discussing "Agile Adaptive Fire Services of the Future." The conference included various research presentations focusing on fire management, counter-terrorism, and other critical areas.

Rabdan Academy's Centres of Excellence Conference Wraps Up

In the fire management segment, Eitan Charnoff from the Secure Communities Forum presented "Community Approaches to Firefighting." Dr Talal Alharthi from Rabdan Academy discussed "Requirements for First Responders," while Major Engineer Ali Hassan Al Madfai from Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority addressed "Facing the Heat: Tackling the Complexities of Electric Vehicle Firefighting."

David Powell from Alliance Manchester Business School explored "Civilian Involvement when the Smoke Clears." Dr Ruei-lin Yu from National Defence University examined "Enhanced Fire Service Coordination on Warships: Integrated Emergency Management." Sergio Re from Bohemia Interactive Simulation highlighted "Enterprise Terrain Management."

The counter-terrorism category featured Dr Adnan Ahmad Olwan from Rabdan Academy discussing "Countering Extremist Ideology." Anthony Kin Hian NG from ST Engineering Group talked about "Technologies and AI for First Responders in Emergency Preparedness & Resilience." Dr Eric Halford from Rabdan Academy presented on optimising intelligence operations using THRIVE.

Dr Omer Ali Saifudeen highlighted dramaturgy's role in countering violent extremism. Dr Alice Yang addressed security awareness in critical infrastructure protection. Brigadier Ahmed Nasser Al Kindi discussed first responder preparedness against terrorist threats.

Day Two Highlights

The second day began with Salem Saeed Al Saeedi's address, followed by Lt. Col. Dana Humaid Al Marzooqi discussing initiatives for first responders at the Ministry of Interior. Lt. Col. Dr Ibrahim Mohamed Almarzouqi spoke on community partnerships for sustainable safety.

A panel discussion titled "The Future Needs for National Qualification in SSDEC" was moderated by Saleha Omer Al Seiari. It featured experts like Col. Eng. Dawood Sulaiman Al Flaiti and Dr Khadija Ahmad Mohammad, focusing on vocational education's importance across safety and security sectors.

Concluding Activities

The conference ended with simulation exercises demonstrating emergency response strategies aligned with its themes. Participants included Dr Saleh Omar Binamro and Major Saood Alkaabi, contributing to different thematic areas.

The event was supported by strategic stakeholders showcasing innovations and services. Bilateral cooperation agreements were signed with institutions like Mutah University in Jordan to enhance research collaboration and expertise exchange.
