Qatar Central Bank Initiates 'Stay Aware' Campaign For Cybersecurity Awareness

Qatar Central Bank (QCB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the National Cyber Security Agency, and Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, has launched a national campaign to raise awareness about information security. The campaign is titled "Stay Aware".

The initiative aims to educate the public on financial risks and cyber threats that come with rapid technological advancements. It also provides practical strategies to help individuals avoid falling victim to these threats.

The campaign highlights three main cybersecurity threats. Firstly, phishing scams where fraudsters impersonate known entities to steal personal information via email or text messages. Secondly, it warns about fraudulent calls. Thirdly, it stresses the importance of data privacy and advises caution when sharing personal information.

QCB stated that this campaign aligns with Qatar's vision of building a cyber-secure society capable of facing future challenges brought by the accelerating technological revolution.

By identifying common channels of cyber fraud such as phone calls, social media, emails, SMS messages, and links, the campaign aims to make people more vigilant. It underscores the importance of not sharing personal data on social media to reduce cybercrimes.

The rapid development of technology has led to evolving cyber threats. This necessitates continuous educational efforts to increase awareness and enhance cybersecurity measures and procedures.

QCB and its partners emphasize that ongoing awareness efforts are crucial for creating a safer electronic society capable of avoiding these threats. They aim to empower individuals and institutions by establishing a culture of electronic vigilance.

The campaign also stresses that awareness in information security is as important as developing secure operational systems using advanced technological innovations. Any deficiency in one component poses a threat to the entire system.

QCB and its partners look forward to reaffirming cyber threats while providing essential information for public protection. They aim to educate people on safeguarding their money and personal data from cybercriminals.

This large-scale national campaign reflects Qatar's commitment to enhancing cybersecurity awareness among its citizens, ensuring they are well-prepared for future digital challenges.
