PureHealth Achieves AAA ESG Rating And Cuts Emissions Intensity By 37% In 2024 Sustainability Report

PureHealth, the Middle East's largest healthcare group, has made significant strides in sustainable healthcare. Their 2024 Sustainability Report highlights achievements in climate action, social impact, workforce empowerment, and national value creation. The group received an AAA rating from MSCI for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, placing it among the top 10% of global healthcare organisations in sustainability.

In a landmark achievement for 2024, PureHealth became the first healthcare company to have its Net Zero target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation aligns with global standards for setting science-based emissions goals. The group also achieved a 37% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity across UAE operations compared to its 2022 baseline.

PureHealth Secures AAA ESG Rating and Cuts Emissions

PureHealth's commitment to transparency was further demonstrated as their 2024 ESG data underwent independent assurance, marking another first for a UAE healthcare company. Sustainalytics awarded PureHealth a "Low Risk" Climate Change rating, recognising it as the best-performing healthcare company in the Middle East.

The group's corporate social responsibility contributions increased by 2.6 times to AED93 million during the year. Female workforce participation rose by 4.7% year-on-year to reach 66%, while local procurement grew by 38%, surpassing AED1 billion. These achievements support supply-chain resilience under the UAE’s In-Country Value programme.

Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth, stated: "Sustainability is embedded in every part of our business – shaping how we deliver care, design infrastructure, and create value for society. We are building a health system that is resilient, data-driven and future-ready, designed to extend human health and wellbeing for decades to come."

Leya Al Damani, Chief Sustainability Officer of PureHealth, added: "Our sustainability journey is grounded in integrity, transparency and measurable impact. We are reducing emissions, advancing resource efficiency, and expanding social programmes that deliver real benefits to people and communities."

Future-Ready Healthcare Transformation

PureHealth's sustainability strategy is guided by its Longevity of the Planet framework. This approach integrates ESG principles across operations and investments to drive future growth. By strengthening governance and accountability within the organisation, PureHealth ensures that current progress creates lasting value for both people and the planet.

The group's milestones reflect its advancing ESG maturity and dedication to promoting sustainable healthcare in line with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy. From their base in the UAE, PureHealth is leading one of the most progressive healthcare transformations globally by balancing medical excellence with environmental responsibility.
