Parliamentary Cooperation Between UAE FNC And European Parliament Strengthens Ties In Abu Dhabi

Federal National Council Speaker Saqr Ghobash held talks in Abu Dhabi with Jörgen Warborn, Member of the Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament, focusing on ways to deepen UAE–European parliamentary cooperation, strengthen economic coordination, and expand joint work in regional and international forums through structured dialogue and shared institutional mechanisms.

Both sides stressed that relations between the UAE and the European Union, and between the FNC and the European Parliament, now reflect an advanced strategic partnership built on mutual interests, practical outcomes and trust, with a strong focus on economic and trade issues as well as institutional dialogue at the parliamentary level.

Parliamentary ties deepen UAE-EU

Ghobash explained that the visit by Warborn and the accompanying delegation demonstrates how strategic ties between the UAE and the European Union have matured over time, adding that cooperation between the FNC and the European Parliament is rooted in respect, continuous communication and an emphasis on dialogue and understanding on matters that concern both sides.

The Speaker noted that UAE–European relations have evolved beyond conventional cooperation into a comprehensive strategic partnership guided by mutual benefit and the ability to produce concrete results, particularly in economic and trade fields, while also strengthening coordination on parliamentary positions in international and regional assemblies.

Warborn underlined the value of the visit and the range of meetings it included, pointing to the progress seen in relations between the UAE and European Union countries. Warborn highlighted that cooperation now spans many sectors, reflects a high level of mutual confidence, and supports efforts to grow economic ties and reinforce institutional connections.

During the discussions, both delegations examined options to increase coordination on issues of mutual interest at regional and international parliamentary forums, expand the exchange of expertise and parliamentary best practices, and encourage knowledge sharing that supports decision-making processes linked to trade, economy and other priority policy areas.

The meeting at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi was attended by several FNC members, who contributed to exchanges on strengthening parliamentary and economic cooperation, while the talks also highlighted how the strategic partnership between both sides is anchored in mutual respect and shared interests, and how it helps sustain long-term parliamentary engagement.
