Aramco Sign MoU With NFPA To Elevate Fire Safety Regulations In Saudi Arabia's Energy Sector
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Aramco have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance fire, electrical, and life safety regulations. This collaboration aims to safeguard lives and property within Saudi Arabia's energy and petrochemicals sector.
The agreement was formalised by Sami A. Ajmi, Vice President (A) of Fire Protection at Aramco, and Jim Pauley, President and CEO of NFPA. The signing ceremony took place at Aramco's headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This partnership highlights a mutual commitment to reducing fire and electrical risks while sharing critical data. Both organisations will work together to establish high safety standards in the industry. They plan to develop robust training programs, implement certification processes, and explore advanced fire prevention technologies.
The collaboration between NFPA and Aramco aims to create significant advancements in fire safety within Saudi Arabia's energy sector. By leveraging shared knowledge and resources, they intend to set new benchmarks for safety practices that could influence global standards.
Knowledge transfer and best practice sharing are key components of this collaboration. The partnership aims to elevate Saudi Arabia's fire safety standards to a global level through in-depth research and analysis using the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem framework.
Sami A. Ajmi commented on the significance of the MoU: "The historical significance of this MoU is the result of a long and great journey between Aramco, as the biggest industrial oil producer and NFPA, as a standard developer aiming to enhance fire protection measures and safeguard our operations and communities."
He added that this agreement is a major milestone in their Global Participation Program. "I'm proud to see many Aramco employees influencing the development of NFPA standards globally as principal standard committee members at many NFPA standards," he said.
Jim Pauley also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: "Partnering with Aramco marks a transformative chapter in our pursuit of enhanced fire safety. This collaboration will not only raise the safety standards in the Kingdom but also serve as a catalyst for industry-wide improvements."
Pauley emphasised that combining their expertise will help develop comprehensive training programs, implement advanced technologies, and foster a culture of safety beyond their organisations. "Together, we will protect the energy and petrochemical industry, ensuring the use of the latest safety standards and innovative solutions," he stated.
