EGX Logistics and Türkiye's Widect Unveil Alliance To Enhance Last-Mile Delivery For E-Commerce In Middle East

EGX Logistics, provider of express and distribution solutions in the Middle East, has formed a strategic alliance with Widect, a subsidiary wholly-owned by Turkish Airlines specializing in value-added e-commerce services. This collaboration aims to enhance freight services between Türkiye and the Middle East and improve last-mile delivery for the burgeoning e-commerce sector in the MENA region.

By leveraging each other's strengths, the partnership is set to develop joint projects that will expand service offerings and increase operational efficiency for e-commerce businesses within the region.

EGX and Widect Partner for E-Commerce Solutions

The alliance between EGX and Widect, both leaders in their respective fields, brings together their substantial resources and expertise. This combines EGX's strong last-mile delivery infrastructure and customer service excellence with Widect's access to Turkish Airlines' vast flight network, covering 340 destinations globally.

Customers of EGX will now enjoy the benefits of daily flights connecting Istanbul with key Saudi cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam—significantly speeding up delivery services, including those crucial last-mile deliveries.

The partnership emerges at a time when trade between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia is experiencing substantial growth, propelled by their status as major aviation hubs in the region. The swift flight connections between Istanbul and Riyadh, which take merely three to four hours, are set to foster efficient business interactions.

Türkiye's exports to Saudi Arabia saw a significant increase, reaching around $3 billion in 2021, with bilateral trade surging to $8.2 billion in 2022. This trend of escalating economic connectivity underscores the partnership's timely relevance in tapping into these expanding markets.

Moreover, the collaboration is well-timed to exploit the expanding e-commerce markets in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, where each country's products enjoy high demand in the other's market. EGX is strategically positioned to assist businesses in tapping into these critical markets, offering a comprehensive array of customer-focused solutions. Leveraging its expertise in express and e-commerce logistics, EGX aims to facilitate smooth trade flows between these key trading partners.

The CEOs of both companies have expressed their enthusiasm for this partnership. Eng. Mohammed Al Bayati, CEO of EGX Logistics Services, emphasized the commitment to providing top-notch logistics solutions characterized by speed, reliability, and flexibility.

"We are committed to providing distinguished logistics solutions based on speed, reliability, and flexibility, and we are pleased to announce our new partnership with 'Widekt'", Al Bayati stated.

Enis Yilmaz, Managing Director of Widect, highlighted the mutual benefits of this collaboration. "We are partnering with EGX to leverage our combined resources and expertise and deliver cutting-edge solutions that can drive the industry forward," Yilmaz remarked.

He further noted, "As e-commerce continues to flourish and bilateral trade grows, we look forward to our ongoing partnership to deliver enhanced services and greater value to businesses across the region."
