Transforming Riyadh: New Murabba Achieves 86% Excavation Milestone For Mukaab Landmark

New Murabba Development Company, affiliated with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has marked a significant milestone in its ambitious project to construct an urban landmark. The project's focal point, the Mukaab, along with its adjacent podium areas, has seen an impressive 86% of excavation work completed, translating to more than 10 million cubic meters of earth being moved. This advancement not only demonstrates a swift pace in the project's execution but also a firm resolve to realize the vision of the largest modern downtown in the world.

The commitment to maintaining high safety standards during this extensive construction phase is evident in the over 3 million hours of safe labor recorded thus far. This achievement highlights New Murabba's dedication to ensuring the health and safety of the workforce involved in bringing Riyadh's new downtown area to life. It reflects the organization's belief in advancing development while safeguarding worker welfare.

New Murabba Reaches Excavation Milestone Safely

Michael Dyke, CEO of New Murabba Development Company, said: "These milestones are a testament to the dedication and skill of our team, and our ambition to build a world-class destination that prioritizes both innovation and the well-being of our workforce. We are proud of the progress made at New Murabba, and excited to continue shaping the future of Riyadh". This statement underscores the company's pride in its recent achievements and its ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in urban development.

A noteworthy aspect of New Murabba's progress is its approach to managing the excavation process, which is carried out with a conscious effort to adopt environmentally friendly practices. The operation involves the daily deployment of around 250 excavators and an additional 400 pieces of equipment, highlighting the project's significant scale and the meticulous planning behind the effective management of excavated materials.

New Murabba

As part of its infrastructure development, New Murabba plans to erect a temporary bridge crossing King Khalid Road. This structure is pivotal for linking the construction site, facilitating the seamless continuation of development activities, and setting the stage for the upcoming piling work of the Mukaab. The bridge is projected to substantially decrease traffic disruptions by cutting around 800,000 truck movements on public roads required for earth removal, thereby mitigating the impact on Riyadh's existing infrastructure. With approximately 900 workers actively engaged on the site each day, the pace of work is on a fast track, edging the project closer to realization.

Dyke further emphasized the project's commitment to sustainable practices and positive community impact, stating, "We are committed to sustainability, efficient resource utilization, and having a positive influence on local infrastructure. Moreover, we are dedicated to being a part of a new dawn for urban development in Riyadh, the Kingdom, and beyond". This pledge reflects New Murabba's broader vision to contribute to Riyadh's transformation into a future-ready city while prioritizing environmental stewardship and community benefits.

The New Murabba's development efforts are shaping up to be a landmark project, not just in terms of its ambitious scale but also in its approach to construction safety, environmental sustainability, and community enhancement. As the project progresses, it stands as a beacon of modern urban development, promising to redefine the landscape of Riyadh and set new standards for future projects worldwide.
