NEOM Unveils $187 Million Concrete Factory To Support THE LINE Development
In northwest Saudi Arabia, the development of NEOM, a region known for its commitment to sustainability, is taking strides forward with the recent announcement of a major partnership. This collaboration with Asas Al-Mohileb, a prominent Saudi Arabian construction and engineering firm, aims to launch a SAR 700 million ($187 million) ready-mix concrete facility. This ambitious project is set to support the construction of THE LINE, a revolutionary linear city being developed within NEOM.
The concrete facility, which is currently under construction by Asas Al-Mohileb within NEOM, is set to be a cornerstone in the region's infrastructure development. With a daily production capacity exceeding 20,000 cubic meters of ready-mix green concrete, this facility underscores the application of industry-leading expertise and operational capabilities. Asas Al-Mohileb will not only build but also manage the operations of this multi-plant factory, highlighting their integral role in bringing this project to fruition.
The concrete production facility is designed to be at the forefront of technology and sustainability. It will feature carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology and implement energy-saving solutions, with the majority of its output dedicated to THE LINE's construction. The facility is gearing up for operations with a fleet of support vehicles, expecting to start next month and reach peak operations by 2025. Additionally, it aims to create over 500 local job opportunities, contributing significantly to the region's employment landscape.
Construction activities for THE LINE are advancing swiftly, with progress evident in the foundational work. Nearly 1,000 foundation piles have been placed, marking the beginning of the extensive construction process that involves over 30,000 piles in total. This development signifies a major step towards realizing the vision of THE LINE as part of NEOM's groundbreaking projects.
The establishment of the SAR 700 million ready-mix concrete facility by NEOM and Asas Al-Mohileb represents a significant leap towards achieving the ambitious goals of NEOM and the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. With its innovative approach to sustainability and technology, alongside the creation of numerous local jobs, this project is poised to play a key role in the Kingdom's construction industry and economic growth.
"The delivery of these concrete plants is another testament to the rapid progress happening at NEOM. It also underscores the strength of the Kingdom's construction industry, and the critical role local partnerships play in delivering this transformational project efficiently and sustainably. We are proud to partner with local contractors and appreciate their contribution to NEOM's advancement across our portfolio of projects, fulfilling NEOM's goal of becoming a hub for local industry leaders and entrepreneurs in support of Saudi Vision 2030," said Nadhmi Al-Nasr, NEOM CEO.
