NCM Predicts Rainfall And Strong Winds From Feb 28 To Mar 1, 2024

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has provided a detailed weather forecast for the upcoming days, specifically from Wednesday, 28th February 2024, to Friday, 1st March 2024. The country is set to experience a variety of weather conditions due to the influence of a surface low-pressure system originating from the Southwest and an upper-air low-pressure system extension. These systems will be accompanied by a western Jetstream, introducing varying amounts of clouds from the West at different intervals.

According to the NCM's report, the weather on Wednesday and Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times across scattered regions of the country. There is a forecast of light to moderate rainfall generally, with potential heavy showers at times over specific areas, particularly in the northern, eastern, and southern regions. Subsequently, the western parts of the country will encounter fresh to strong North-westerly winds at times.

NCM's Weather Forecast: Feb 28-Mar 1

Starting from Thursday noon, there will be a noticeable drop in temperatures, and the cloud cover is anticipated to gradually decrease by Thursday night. Moving into Friday, some eastern areas might see cloud formations that could become convective, presenting a chance of rainfall during the day.

The wind conditions will also see significant changes over these days. Initially light South-easterly winds on Thursday morning will shift to moderate to fresh and strong North-westerly winds by noon, especially affecting maritime activities and causing blowing dust and sand over land areas. This transition is particularly noteworthy for those at sea or in coastal regions.

The sea state is expected to reflect these windy conditions. The Arabian Gulf will experience moderate seas becoming rough to very rough at times on Thursday. Similarly, the Oman Sea will transition from slight to moderate during the day and become rough by Thursday night.

This comprehensive weather forecast issued by the NCM highlights the dynamic weather patterns affecting the country over this period. Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially when planning outdoor activities or maritime operations.
