National Centre Of Meteorology And RAK International Airport Forge Strategic Partnership For Aviation Safety
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has partnered with Ras Al Khaimah International Airport to provide top-tier meteorological services. This collaboration aims to boost the airport's operational efficiency and ensure aviation safety through advanced weather monitoring systems. The agreement also focuses on enhancing resilience against climatic challenges that could affect air traffic.
Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director-General of NCM, and Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, signed the agreement at the airport's headquarters. Both leaders expressed optimism about this partnership's potential to enhance the competitiveness of the emirate's aviation sector and elevate Ras Al Khaimah International Airport as a prominent international gateway.

This partnership highlights NCM's role as the sole authorised provider of meteorological services in the UAE, as mandated by Federal Decree-Law No. (6) of 2007 and its amendments. It supports the aviation sector with integrated services like accurate forecasts, real-time weather updates, and warnings about sudden atmospheric changes.
The services under this agreement aim to achieve high levels of aviation safety and ensure smooth flight operations while adhering to international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). They also meet the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) requirements.
Al Mandous emphasised that this partnership reflects NCM's dedication to providing innovative services that meet international standards, strengthening the UAE's position in civil aviation. He noted that the agreement marks a significant step toward improving aviation safety by delivering precise meteorological data and analyses that enhance RAK Airport's operational efficiency and promote sustainability in this vital sector.
Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi highlighted that offering high-quality meteorological services boosts the airport's operational capabilities, supports its expansion plans, and reinforces its role as a key gateway connecting Ras Al Khaimah to global destinations. This collaboration will contribute significantly to sustainable economic and tourism growth in the emirate.
This strategic partnership underscores NCM's commitment to excellence in meteorological services across the UAE. By providing comprehensive weather monitoring systems, it ensures seamless flight operations while adhering to international standards. The collaboration strengthens Ras Al Khaimah International Airport’s status as an emerging international hub, supporting both economic growth and tourism development in the region.
