Zayed Higher Organisation Launches Naqra Labs In Abu Dhabi And Al Ain To Empower People Of Determination

Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination has introduced two "Naqra" learning labs in partnership with Key2Enable, a firm specialising in assistive technology. These facilities, located at the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Centres for Care and Rehabilitation, are designed to train People of Determination, especially those with cerebral palsy, to complete government transactions digitally. The initiative also aims to enhance their academic and technical skills in line with digital age demands.

The "Naqra" lab is pioneering in supporting People of Determination to complete essential government transactions like passport renewals, ID card issuance, residency permits, and health insurance. The organisation plans to process 40% of its employees' transactions through the lab initially, with a goal to increase this figure to 90% by 2027. This represents a progressive model for integrating people of determination into employment.

Naqra Labs Empower People of Determination

The labs are equipped with the latest Key2Enable technologies, including assistive computers and advanced educational software. A notable feature is the Kay-X keyboard, specifically designed to help individuals with motor challenges interact easily with digital systems. This technology facilitates seamless interaction for users facing physical limitations.

As part of its future plans, Zayed Higher Organisation aims to expand the project's scope by transforming the "Naqra" labs into centres for processing transactions for employees of government departments across the emirate. This aligns with the "Year of Community 2025," which promotes cooperation and social inclusion under the slogan "Hand in Hand."

The Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Department at Zayed Higher Organisation focuses on preparing People of Determination through intensive training programmes using cutting-edge assistive technologies. Meanwhile, the Services and Procurement Department oversees project implementation and evaluates service quality.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, highlighted that this initiative goes beyond job creation; it is a crucial step towards financial independence for People of Determination. It also enhances their societal role by providing opportunities for education, training, and employment.

Local Manufacturing Efforts

Al Humaidan mentioned that as part of their collaboration with Key2Enable, assistive technology devices will be supplied and manufactured locally. The organisation holds exclusive rights to assemble Key2Enable units and the Kay-X keyboard in the Middle East. Products made in the UAE will feature a bee logo.

He urged public and private sector entities to support this initiative by creating more opportunities for People of Determination. The organisation remains committed to empowering these individuals towards achieving full independence while contributing to an inclusive society in the UAE.

Expanding Regional Presence

Joseph Rubinger, CEO of Key2Enable, stated that this collaboration enhances People of Determination's capabilities to engage productively with modern technology. It creates sustainable job opportunities ensuring their independence. He expressed interest in expanding their presence within GCC countries starting from Abu Dhabi.

The inauguration at Abu Dhabi Centre was attended by Major General Suhail Juma Al Khaili from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship along with Abdullah Al Humaidan and other officials. Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Kamali attended the opening at Al Ain Centre as Executive Director of People of Determination Sector at Zayed Higher Organisation.
