Nahyan Bin Mubarak And Kerala Chief Minister Celebrate Kerala Day In Abu Dhabi With Community Leaders

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, attended the "MALAYALOTSAVAM" event at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. This celebration marked the 70th anniversary of Kerala's formation, known as Kerala Piravi. The event was graced by Saji Cherian, Kerala’s Minister for Culture, Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to the UAE, businessman Yusuf Ali M.A., and over 5,000 members of the Malayali community.

In his keynote speech, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed his pleasure in welcoming attendees to the UAE. He stated, "I am delighted to welcome you to the United Arab Emirates and extend to you all my warmest greetings and sincere appreciation. It is truly an honor to be with you today." His remarks highlighted the strong ties between Kerala, India, and the UAE.

The minister praised Ambassador Dr. Mittal for enhancing bilateral relations and commended Yusuf Ali M.A. for his significant role in fostering economic and cultural connections. He described Yusuf Ali as "a dedicated son not only of Kerala but also of the UAE." Sheikh Nahyan acknowledged the global Keralite community's talent and energy, which enriches the UAE’s social fabric.

Sheikh Nahyan noted that Keralites are a valued part of the UAE’s diverse society. He emphasized that Kerala's excellence in education has contributed significantly to regional progress. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the UAE people for the Malayali community's dedication and friendship.

He explained that maintaining cultural roots while contributing to the UAE’s growth benefits both nations. Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that Kerala’s diversity mirrors that of the UAE, where people from various backgrounds coexist harmoniously under a "great Arab tent." He stressed that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE continues its advancement with respect for human dignity.

Addressing attendees, he remarked on the longstanding friendship between the UAE and Kerala rooted in mutual respect. Such gatherings should foster dialogue and collaboration. He praised Kerala as an example of India's achievements in education and sustainable development.

Celebrating Achievements

The minister lauded Kerala's success in eradicating extreme poverty as a model worth emulating. He concluded by congratulating everyone on Kerala Day, expressing pride in their culture and contributions globally. He looked forward with optimism to a shared future for both nations.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan thanked Sheikh Nahyan for his support and hospitality. He affirmed that initiatives promoting tolerance inspire communities and strengthen ties between Kerala and the UAE. The CM noted robust support for Malayalis in the country translates into real growth opportunities.

Future Collaborations

Pinarayi Vijayan expressed hopes for expanding partnerships in investment, infrastructure, education, health, technology, and social welfare sectors. He congratulated everyone on Kerala Piravi day while looking forward to closer ties in future collaborations.

Kerala Day is celebrated annually on 1st November to commemorate its formation in 1956. The Abu Dhabi edition of MALAYALOTSAVAM on 9th November 2025 showcased seven decades of achievements through performances promoting cross-cultural understanding.
