Nahyan Bin Mubarak Attends Celebration Honouring Iranian Community In Dubai
The UAE recently hosted a celebration honouring the Iranian community, attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Alireza Mahmoudi. Held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, the event highlighted the cultural and social bonds between the UAE and Iran. It brought together diplomats, business leaders, and notable figures from both communities.
The event was organised by "Emirates Loves Iran," a social initiative that collaborates with Dubai Police. This initiative aims to showcase inspiring success stories and contributions of Iranians to the UAE's development. The programme celebrated Iranian culture through diverse traditions, arts, and heritage, offering residents insights into Iran's rich history.
Sheikh Nahyan expressed admiration for Iranian culture, stating: "It is my great pleasure to be with you this evening. The excitement and warmth we observe here tonight reflect our admiration in the UAE for the spirit and intelligence of the Iranian people, as well as for the beauty of their culture and traditions." He emphasised the deep-rooted friendship between Iran and the UAE.
He further noted that both nations have shared a long history of trade, family ties, and cooperation. "This evening, we are reminded that Iran and the UAE are not just friends and neighbors across the waters of the Gulf – we are companions in a long, shared journey across history," he added.
The event featured traditional music performances, art exhibitions, culinary showcases, and creative displays inspired by Iranian culture. These activities attracted families and individuals from various age groups within the Iranian community. The celebration underscored their positive role in supporting the UAE’s growth.
Sheikh Nahyan acknowledged the significant contributions of Iranians in various fields such as business, education, arts, and entrepreneurship. He stated that their efforts have enriched Emirati society in numerous ways.
Economic Collaboration
The UAE-Iran relationship extends beyond cultural ties to economic collaboration. Both countries are committed to enhancing partnerships in tourism, trade, energy, industry, financial markets, agriculture, and aviation. This cooperation is vital for strengthening bilateral relations.
In 2014, a memorandum established the UAE–Iran Business Council between key chambers of commerce from both countries. This council explores economic opportunities across sectors like food, healthcare, and tourism while fostering collaboration among business leaders.
Invitation to Participate
Sheikh Nahyan invited attendees to join a national initiative—the UAE Writing Competition—organised by his ministry with Sandooq Al Watan. Participants can share personal stories about what the UAE means to them through essays or poems written in Arabic or English on www.myuaestory.ae.
Winning entries will be published in a commemorative book series available in both languages. Winners will also receive recognition at a national ceremony celebrating their contributions.
A Festival of Friendship
The celebration titled "Iran Fest" served as more than just an event; it was a testament to cultural harmony. Sheikh Nahyan remarked: "It is a reminder that when cultures meet, humanity shines brightest." He encouraged continued dialogue between both nations for mutual understanding.
The gathering showcased how shared experiences can weave stronger bonds between countries while enriching each other's societies through cooperation across various domains.
The event concluded with Sheikh Nahyan expressing gratitude towards organisers and participants: "May this evening be one of happiness connection inspiration." His words encapsulated hope for ongoing friendship growth between Iran-UAE communities living working together harmoniously within diverse multicultural environment offered by United Arab Emirates today.
