Nahyan Bin Mubarak Inaugurates The Al Ain Masters 2025 Badminton Championship With Global Participation
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, officially opened the inaugural "Al Ain Masters 2025" badminton championship. The event, held at Khalifa bin Zayed Hall in Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club, marks the beginning of six days of top-tier competition. Notable sports figures like Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, were present alongside a large audience of badminton fans.
The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem performed by a military band. A promotional video followed, outlining the championship’s vision and mission. The UAE national badminton team also showcased their skills, receiving enthusiastic applause from attendees. Sheikh Nahyan took the opportunity to honour strategic partners for their vital role in making this first edition successful.
Noura Al Jasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, expressed pride in hosting this historic event in Al Ain. She stated, "We are proud and grateful for the presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Aref Al Awani and their participation in this historic event." She emphasised that hosting such events is crucial for enhancing community involvement and attracting more international championships to Al Ain.
The championship will feature around 300 players from 38 countries competing from 30th September to 5th October. This gathering includes top-ranked international players as well as emerging Emirati talents. The matches promise to be both exciting and closely contested, showcasing high-level badminton skills.
Noura Al Jasmi highlighted that Al Ain is well-equipped to host world-class sporting events due to its rich heritage and history. She added that this championship is just the beginning of realising their ambition to make Al Ain a hub for international sports events. "The city has all the ingredients needed to host world-class sporting events," she noted.
Over the next five days, spectators will witness some of the world's best badminton players displaying their unique talents. The participation of the UAE national team highlights the progress made in developing local sports talent through ongoing preparation and development programs.
