Nahyan Bin Mubarak Opens 3rd International Conference On Advancing Sustainable Futures In Abu Dhabi

The 3rd International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Futures (ICASF 2025) was inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University. This event, held at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, was organised by Abu Dhabi University in partnership with the International Observatory for University Rankings and Academic Excellence.

Sheikh Nahyan welcomed attendees to Abu Dhabi, highlighting the diverse assembly of thinkers, scientists, and innovators. He noted that this gathering signifies a collective dedication to enhancing human life and fostering a sustainable future. The conference's theme aligns with the UAE’s enduring vision of sustainability, inspired by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and currently guided by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri underscored the significance of hosting ICASF 2025. He pointed out that it demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to nurturing a culture of sustainability. The country has advanced national initiatives that have established it as a global leader in environmental legislation and resource conservation.

The conference theme "Shaping the Future: Integrating Nature, Technology, and Society" attracted over 75 experts. Discussions centred on advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and renewable energy, exploring their roles in supporting sustainable development, inclusion, and societal resilience.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that the UAE is a global leader in conservation, education, scientific research, and technological innovation. He highlighted the importance of viewing nature, technology, and society as an interconnected system. The conference addressed four main areas: enhancing university quality; promoting environmental sustainability; advancing science and technology to improve quality of life; and considering social and ethical aspects of innovation.

The opening ceremony saw attendance from notable figures such as Amr Ezzat Salama from the Association of Arab Universities; Sharif Al Olama from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure; Arif Sultan Al Hammadi from Khalifa University; Ahmed Al Raisi from United Arab Emirates University; Waldemar Siwiński from the International Observatory for University Rankings; Liu Zhining from BRICS Business Council; Mohamed Al Aisati; Patrizia Lombardi from Politecnico di Torino; along with several academic leaders both locally and internationally.

Commitment to Global Cooperation

Sheikh Nahyan stated that ICASF 2025 embodies the principle that sustainability is a global approach balancing economic, social, and environmental needs. He expressed gratitude towards Abu Dhabi University for organising this event and appreciated all participants for their contributions.

Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri also highlighted Abu Dhabi University's leadership role in sustainability research. The university collaborates with various institutions on projects aimed at sustainability and future-oriented initiatives.

This conference reflects a shared commitment to improving human life through sustainable practices. It underscores the UAE's position as a pioneer in integrating nature with technology for societal benefit.
