Nahyan Bin Mubarak Celebrates Achievements Of Women Athletes At Fatima Bint Mubarak Awards Ceremony

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, recently honoured the winners of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Awards 2024 in Abu Dhabi. This prestigious event, organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is a pioneering initiative in the region. It aims to empower women in sports, enhance their participation and competitiveness, and foster an environment conducive to their advancement.

The awards reflect the vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the "Mother of the Nation." She holds several key positions including Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. Her efforts are supported by Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who leads various women's sports organisations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Fatima Bint Mubarak Awards Celebrate Women Athletes

The ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili from the Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi, Hassan Ibrahim Al Hammadi from the Presidential Court, and Shamsa Saif Al Hanaei from the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. Other attendees included members of the Higher Organising Committee and prominent sports personalities from across the UAE and Arab world.

Among the awardees was Kelia Nammour from Algeria, who was named Best Arab Women Athlete for her achievements in gymnastics. Ahoud Khalifa Al Kaabi received recognition as Best Emirati Women Athlete for her prowess in Jiu Jitsu. The Sports Personality of the Year 2024 title went to Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa from Bahrain for her contributions to gender balance in sports.

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah was awarded the Arab Sports Pioneers Award for her significant impact on women's sports in Kuwait and the Gulf region. Sana bint Hamad Al Busaidi was also recognised for her leadership in Oman's women's sports initiatives.

Maryam Ahmed Abdullah Al Zeyoudi from UAE was honoured as Best Paralympic Athlete. Marwa Al Amri from Tunisia received accolades as Best Female/Male Coach. Sudan's Nahla Nabil Bouzid Al Maghribi was celebrated as Best Sports Media Personality.

Recognising Young Talent and Teams

Latifa Mohammed Khalifa Al Falasi from UAE was acknowledged as Best Youth Athlete, while Egypt's Zamalek Club took home the award for Best Team. Ruqayya Ahmed Abdullah Al Zaabi from UAE was recognised as Best Sports Mother for her dedication to nurturing athletic talent.

These awards highlight exceptional contributions to women's sports across various categories, celebrating both individual achievements and collective efforts that drive progress within this vital sector.
