Nahyan Bin Mubarak Highlights UAE Commitment At Taawon Annual Dinner In Abu Dhabi
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended Taawon's annual dinner at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The event gathered humanitarian leaders, international organisation representatives, and private-sector partners. This high-level attendance underscored Taawon's significant regional and international role and the UAE's dedication to humanitarian efforts, particularly those aiding Palestinian people, including vulnerable children and families in Gaza.
During the event, Sheikh Nahyan expressed his honour in attending Taawon's gathering. He praised the organisation's national vision and dedication to alleviating suffering among Palestinians. Highlighting the Noor Programme as a source of pride, he noted its focus on Gaza's children as a testament to genuine compassion. The programme aims to provide these children with a safe and peaceful environment.
Dr. Nabeel Hani Al-Kudumi, Chairman of Taawon, highlighted the institution's unwavering service to Palestinians since its inception over four decades ago. He stated that Taawon has invested more than one billion dollars in various programmes benefiting Palestinians. Their mission is to empower Palestinians, bolster their resilience, and support their steadfastness on their land.
Dr. Tareq Mtayrah, Director-General of Taawon, elaborated on the Noor Programme's comprehensive care model. He explained that it is not just a sponsorship programme but a life journey accompanying children until they turn eighteen. It includes education, health services, psychological support, and protection to help restore balance in their lives.
Sheikh Nahyan emphasised the strong ties between Palestine and the UAE during his speech. He said that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, they continue supporting Palestinian rights and efforts for an independent state. The UAE remains committed to ensuring a decent life for Palestinian citizens.
Support for Gaza's Children
The Noor Programme provides essential care for orphaned children in Gaza who urgently need assistance. Sheikh Nahyan praised its humanitarian values as expressions of mercy and respect for human life. He hoped it would offer hope for Gaza’s children facing difficult conditions.
Taawon intensified relief operations under the "Gaza Deserves" initiative since the second day of war on Gaza. This includes university education support, mobile medical clinics, rehabilitation programmes for injured individuals, along with the Noor Programme.
In closing remarks at the event, Sheikh Nahyan reiterated appreciation for Taawon’s initiatives aimed at achieving dignity across Palestine while preserving national values and identity through individual development and social progress.
