The Muslim Council of Elders, led by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, urges global leaders to enhance efforts for peace and coexistence. This call comes amid ongoing conflicts causing numerous casualties and displacements worldwide. The Council emphasises the need for a culture of peace and tolerance to address these issues effectively.

On International Peace Day, celebrated on 21st September each year, the Council highlighted that peace is a fundamental Islamic value. Islam closely associates the lives of Muslims with peace, making it a core principle. The Council stressed the importance of fostering harmony within communities as part of this commitment.

Call for Peace on International Peace Day

Religious leaders play a vital role in global peace efforts, according to the Muslim Council of Elders. They serve as moral guides and shared human consciences, steering societies towards tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Their influence helps reject violence, division, extremism, and terrorism.

The Council firmly believes that peace is essential for achieving global stability and prosperity. Dialogue and understanding among different cultures are seen as effective means to resolve conflicts. To support this belief, the Council has launched several initiatives aimed at promoting peace.

Empowering young people is crucial for global peace efforts, according to the Council. Initiatives like the Emerging Peacemakers Forum and Ethics Education Fellowship Program aim to strengthen youth skills in peacebuilding. These platforms encourage cultural understanding and mutual respect.

The signing of the Document on Human Fraternity marks a significant step in promoting values such as justice, goodness, love, and human fraternity. This document addresses critical global issues like war, conflict, climate change, and cultural decline.

Islamic Solidarity Against Sectarianism

Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb's call at the Bahrain Dialogue Forum underscores Islamic unity against sectarianism. This initiative aims to foster communication and cooperation within the Islamic community. It seeks to advance peace while addressing contemporary challenges facing Muslims globally.
