MoIAT Calls For Nominations For The Prestigious Make It In The Emirates Awards 2024
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has recently unveiled the second edition of the Make it in the Emirates Awards, aimed at celebrating the achievements of leaders within the UAE’s industrial sector. Following the success of the inaugural awards in 2023, this initiative seeks to highlight the contributions of pioneers, visionaries, national talents, sustainability champions, and innovators who are contributing to the UAE's ambition of becoming a leading global manufacturing hub.
Nominations for the awards opened today, with the 2024 edition featuring 10 categories across five fields: ICV, Sustainability, Factory of the Future, Industry Enablers & Strategic Partners, and Leadership & Talent. The process will see shortlisted entries being notified between 22nd April and 12th May, with winners to be announced during a ceremony at the annual Make it in the Emirates Forum scheduled for 27th-28th May 2024 in Abu Dhabi.

The forum, which first took place in 2022 as a core component of the Make it in the Emirates initiative under the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, aims to position the UAE as a global industrial hub. The previous forum attracted over 5,000 stakeholders and unveiled AED 10 billion in new product offtake opportunities, increasing the total value introduced at the forum to AED 120 billion.
Omar Al Suwaidi, MoIAT Under-Secretary, expressed enthusiasm about the return of the awards, emphasizing their role in recognizing achievements across the local industrial value chain. He highlighted that these awards serve not only as a recognition platform but also as an opportunity for companies to gain visibility among key industry players and investors. Al Suwaidi underscored MoIAT's commitment to incentivizing technology integration, standards adoption, and sustainability best practices to accelerate the UAE's transformation into a global industrial hub.
The awards encompass a wide range of categories including three ICV awards (ICV Excellence Award: Private Sector Manufacturers; ICV Excellence Award: Semi-Governmental Manufacturers; and ICV Excellence Award: Service Providers), Sustainable Manufacturer Award, two Factory of the Future awards (Smart Manufacturer Award; and Excellence in Innovation Award), two Industry Enablers & Strategic Partners awards (Industrial Strategic Partner Award; and Quality Standards Award), and two Leadership & Talent awards (Young Talent of the Year Award; and Inspirational Leader Award).
This initiative offers an ideal platform for companies and individuals to enhance their visibility, showcase their innovation, and demonstrate their contributions to local, regional, and global communities. The selection process is thorough, ensuring that deserving organizations and individuals are recognized based on their alignment with specified criteria for each award category. A panel comprising representatives from MoIAT as well as industry experts and leaders will judge nominations.
The Make it in the Emirates Awards is a testament to MoIAT's efforts to foster a competitive environment that motivates companies towards adopting best practices and advanced technologies. It also reflects a broader strategy aimed at raising the competitiveness and GDP contribution of the national industrial sector. As nominations open across the industrial spectrum, there is anticipation for another year of celebrating exceptional contributions to the UAE’s industrial advancement.
