MoHAP Unveils Comprehensive National Plan To Enhance Health Of Elderly Population
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has introduced a national plan to enhance elderly health. This initiative includes a month-long awareness campaign titled "Your presence…. brings health and wellness." The plan also features the National Framework for Healthy Ageing 2025–2031, aiming to improve life quality for older adults and prevent dementia.
During an event in Dubai, MoHAP revealed these initiatives with Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at MoHAP, present. Representatives from various organisations, including the World Health Organisation and several UAE ministries, also attended. These efforts are part of MoHAP's collaboration with strategic partners to promote healthy ageing.

The National Framework for Healthy Ageing 2025–2031 targets individuals aged 60 and above. It aims to provide comprehensive healthcare, social support, and psychological assistance while promoting active community participation. The framework aligns with the World Health Organisation’s Global Strategy on Ageing and Health and UAE’s national agendas like UAE Centennial 2071.
MoHAP also launched the "Ambassadors of Healthy Ageing" initiative in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and the Ministry of Sports. This programme trains middle-aged individuals who lead healthy lifestyles to become ambassadors. They will spread positive health messages and serve as role models for ageing with dignity.
The awareness campaign seeks to educate communities about early detection of age-related changes. It emphasises reducing social isolation and promoting mental health while highlighting families' roles in protecting elderly dignity. Preventive screenings and sustainable healthy behaviours are encouraged through this campaign.
Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand stated that this comprehensive plan is a strategic milestone reflecting UAE’s dedication to community health across all ages. He mentioned that it aligns with the Year of Community, reinforcing family cohesion as a national value.
Collaborative Efforts
This campaign is supported by broad national partnerships, uniting governmental and societal efforts for lasting impact. It aims to build a cohesive society focused on elderly health as a key aspect of social welfare and quality of life.
Several government entities have contributed to launching this national plan aimed at enhancing elderly health. These coordinated efforts aim to strengthen family bonds with the elderly during the Year of Community.
Dr. Al Rand further noted that these initiatives align with "We the UAE 2031," affirming human wellbeing as foundational for sustainable development.
The Ministry's initiatives reflect its commitment to promoting community health by safeguarding individual wellbeing across all age groups in line with UAE’s forward-looking vision.
